After over 2 weeks and 361 events, the curtains fall in Guadalajara, Mexico as they successfully stages the 2011 Pan American Games. The Unites States ran away with the most medals and golds. Cuba finished second in the gold medal haul with 58 while Brazil has the second most medals in the competitions with 141. Host Mexico finished fourth in the overall race. Pan American Games 2011: Medal Tally and latest results (10-30-2011), Cuba pulling away from Brazil

Guadalajara, Mexico – As the competition in 2011 Pan American Games heats up and down to its final events, Cuba has virtually secured 2nd place in the gold medal race. With 54 golds compared to the 46 of Brazil, the Cubans could thank boxing for its eventual hold of the second position. The United States are comfortably ahead of the competition with 90 golds and 231 medals out of 346 completed events.

Canada also misses some golden chances as their men’s teams in water polo and field hockey settled for silver medals.

Pan American Games 2011 Boxing: Cuba is king of the ring!

The 2011 Pan American Games boxing tilt is in its late stages and Cuba once again asserted its domination in the ring. The mighty Cubans grabbed 9 medal, 8 golds and 1 silver. The boxer’s superiority helped Cuba leapfrog over Brazil in the overall medal standings. Cuba had an easier as the United States did not send a boxing contingent. This year’s Pan American Games also marked the introduction of Women’s boxing in the competition. Here is the updated medal tally for boxing:

The medal races are heating up in Guadalajara, Mexico at the 2011 Pan American Games as Brazil and Cuba are locked tied 2nd in the gold medal standings. Mexico has pulled away from Canada for 4th while Canada is trying to hold on to the 5th spot as Columbia is slowly gaining ground on them. Cuba and Brazil are fighting hard at the Judo mats.
