The University of the Philippines Pep Squad salvaged some pride for the school after a miserable season of its Men’s Basketball Team. With 22,000 people watching the cheerdance competition live in Araneta, the UP Pep Squad wowed the crowd with a flawless fiesta-inspired routine to garner the top prize of the Samsung-sponsored event. They beat last year’s winners, the Far Eastern University Tamaraws. FEU’s samurai-inspired routine landed them 2nd place while UST’s Salinggawi Dance Troupe completed the podium after a disappointing 2009 result.
caloycomment: It was a big victory for my alma mater. I just hope that the Maroons Men’s Basketball Team can get a championship in the coming decade. 😉 The UP Pep Squad “dynasty” will definitely continue in the coming years although competition will be stiffer than the previous years.
