All they need was a draw to be in the semifinals in the Suzuki Cup and the PHL Football team did it. The game between the Philippines and Burma ended 0-0.   It was the second straight shutout by goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.  The Philippines will now face powerhouse Indonesia who has dominated all its opponents so far.

In the other Group B match, Vietnam redeemed itself by beating Singapore 1-0 and topping the group to face Group A second placer Malaysia in the semifinals.

caloycomment: Who would have thought that the Philippine Football will reach this far? Even if there is so much bickering between PFF officials, the national team managed to get this excellent result.  I just hope that FIFA will not ban our national team for the infighting in the local football federation. It would really spoil the victory of this team. With the feat also, I expect many politicians to start riding the football bandwagon.  Hopefully, they will just support the sport by giving funds to schools to promote the sport and not join the PFF and try to run it. 😉
