Last year’s finalists Ateneo De Manila University and Far Eastern University routed National University and University of the East respectively to secure their status as favorites.

The Ateneo Blue Eagles dominated the NU Bulldogs from start to finish.  The match-up between freshmen Kiefer Ravena and Bobby Parks never materialized as the young Bulldogs looked in awe of their rivals from Katipunan. Behemoth Greg Slaughter paced Ateneo with 15 points which had 12 other Blue Eagles scoring. Parks paced NU with 20 points along with 6 rebounds.  The game finished 86-62 in favor of the undefeated 3-time defending Champs Ateneo.

In the main game, the FEU Tamaraws of Bert Flores toyed with the winless UE Red Warriors 66-47. After just scoring 6 in the opening quarter the Tamaraw limited the Warriors to single digits in the next 2 quarters to turn a 6 point deficit to a 17 point blowout. Chris Excimiano paced 7 other Tamaraws with 5 points or more. Guard Cris Tolomia had 9 points and 12 rebounds. UE’s leading scored were John Noble (11 pts) and Adrian Santos (10 pts).

Saturdays’s Match-ups will be :

UP (1-1) vs. DLSU (10-2)

ADMU (3-0) vs. UE (0-3)

Games will be at the Araneta Coliseum
