The Jordan National Team snapped Smart-Gilas‘ 2 game winning streak in the 33rd William Jones Cup by a score of 76-72.  The clash of 2 undefeated was close all-throughout but Jordan limited the production of naturalized player Marcus Douhit. Douhit was limited to 10 point, a far cry from his 23 point average in the fist 2 games.

Once again the game was marred with questionable calls especially in the eyes of coach Rajko Toroman who quipped that they are going to walk out if a certain referee will still officiate his team’s next game.

Mark Barroca scored all of 13 points in the first quarter to pace Smart Gilas. JV Casio showed up in the clutch situations to level the count to 69 and to cut a 5 point lead into 72-74 but the Smart-Gilas ran out of time to rally.

The scores:
Jordan (76) — Zaghab 17, Daghles 16, Z. Abbas 14, Wright 12, Soozokov 8, Ruqayah 4, AbuQoura 3, M. Abbas 2, Hussain 0, Alfaraj 0, Alkhas 0.

Smart-Gilas (72) — Barroca 13, Baracael 10, Douthit 10, Lutz 10, Tiu 8, Hontiveros 7, Casio 6, Lassiter 4, Taulava 2, Aguilar 2, Ballesteros 0, Ababou 0.

Quarterscores: 21-17; 34-32; 56-53; 76-72.

Next up for the Gilas is Malaysia.
