The team owners and players were not able to reach a deal in their recent meeting prompting National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern to cancel the first 2 weeks of the 2011-2012 season. According to Stern, both sides are still far from each other when it comes to issues. The lockout will affect jobs that are dependent on the NBA and there are reports already of teams cutting down some of its human resource due to the labor impasse.
