Defending champions San Beda Red Lions muddled the Final 4 picture of the 87th NCAA basketball tournament as they beat San Sebastian Stags,90-71. The victory ties their record to their victims at 16-2. The two teams will play a one game playoff to determine the top seed in the Final 4. The winner will be facing the JRU Bombers while the losers will be facing the tough Letran Knights.
Unlike their first game where the Stags manage to break the hearts of the Lions in crunch time, the defending champions made sure that they hold double digit leads the whole game. The Lions started fast and pounced on the helpless Stags, 29-18 at the end of the first period. Filipino-Australian Anthony Semerad made his presence felt by scoring 13 points for the Red Lions. Semerad missed the first encounter due to an injury. Garvo Lañete scored 19 while Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo contributed 10 points each. The Golden Stags were led by Calvin Abueva who finished with 20 points and 11 boards.
The playoff match is set for tomorrow at 2 pm. It will be held at The Arena in San Juan City,
