Nha Trang City, Vietnam– The second day of the FIBA Asia Under 16 Championships has ended and here are h the game results.
Iraq 100 – 32 Uzbekistan
After a sorry first day loss to Korea, the WABA U16 champs Iraq vented all their frustrations to lowly Uzbekistan. Dhulfiqar Ali paced the Iraqis with 21 points. Ali Ahmed added 20. Iraq led 59-13 at halftime.
Japan 20 – 0 Iran
Japan wins by default.
Saudi Arabia 85 – 47 Qatar
KSA beats fellow West Asian representative Qatar. Sakar Abdulaziz was virtually unstoppable finishing with 29 points by hitting 11 of 12 FG attempts and 5 of 6 Free throws. He was perfect in the three point arc, making 2 of 2.
China 75 – 44 Taipei
After a close first 20 minutes, China stepped on the gas and beat their much shorter rivals 75-44. The mainlanders outscored their opponents 37-16 in the second half. Gigantic Zhou Qi stood all again with 24 points. He was backed up by Guo Xiaopeng’s 20.
Korea 89 – 65 Lebanon
After a needing a rally in their last match, Korea had an easier time against Lebanon. The Koreans pulled away from the get go and held a 30 point lead by half time. Second half was a mere formality as the 2009 FIBA U16 runners up are on their way to top their group. Heo Hoon finished with 23 markers after going 5/6 in the 3-point region. Park Intae scored 15 for Korea while Lebanon was led by Gerard Hadidian’s 22.
Philippines 93 – 30 Indonesia
The king of Southeast Asian basketball got an expected rout against rivals Inodnesia. The Philippines had a rest day in Day 1. All the players played and scored in the match. Coach Olsen Racela‘s boys took a 56-13 lead by halftime. Rodolfo Alejandro III and Kyles Jefferson Lao topscored with 15 points each. All the players of the Philippines scored at least 2 points.
