Philippines U16 stays undefeated

The 5th day competitions here in Nha Trang City, Vietnam were marked by 2 exciting games that went to extra periods. The top teams remain undefeated but there is a tremendous competition for the final quarterfinal spots. Here are the results of  Day 2 of the 2nd round of the 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championships:

Lebanon 42 – 88 China

China zoomed to a 22-5 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Iraq 78 – 73 (OT) Chinese-Taipei

Iraq was leading the whole game and they were leading by 8, 63-55, after Ahmed Razzaq scored with 4:55 left in the 4th period. Taipei unleashed a 12-4 blitz capped by a field goal by  Lu Kuan-Shiuan with 7 seconds left in the clock to bring the game to overtime. In overtime, Taipei was able to grab the lead at 71-70 after a Wang I-Fan free throw. Iran though closed the game with an 8-2 run for the win. Korea suddenly woke up an unleashed a 19-10 run at the start of the final period to win the game. Heo Hoon, who was supposed to be rested in the game due to an ankle injury, made a gallant effort to lead Korea with 31 bug points. Korea will next face China to determine the top seed for Group E.
