In the first ever PB A game held at the newly built MOA Arena, the B-Meg Llamados bagged the historic win over the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 94-91. The win upped Derby Ace’s record to 7-3 and they are just a game behind the pace-setting Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. The victory also avenged the Llamados’ loss to the Tropang Texters in the elimination round of the conference.
B-Meg import Marcus Blakely had an explosive game finishing with 26 points, 20 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 blocks, and 3 assists. He was ably backed up by locals Josh Urbiztondo, Marc Pingris, Rafi Reavis, and Ranidel de Ocampo who all scored in double figures. James Yap went scoreless and was limited to 14 minutes due to a back injury. The Llamados were trailing by ten 39-49 at halftime but they made head way in the 3rd period to tie it at 67-all going to the final 12 minutes of play. They were the steadier team at crunch time and their victory became official when Ranidel de Ocampo missed a three-pointer in TNT’s final attempt of the game.
Paul Harris led the Texters with 24 points and 13 rebounds. The loss was the Texter’s 5th in 10 games. They are now hard-pressed to sweep all their remaining games to have chance for a finals seat.
