SMART-Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City – After being outmuscled and pushed in Game 1, the B-Meg Llamados showed more poise in Game 2 to level the 2012 PBA Governor’s Cup Finals best of seven series.  The Llamados hit timely baskets in free throws in the final minutes of Game 2 to pull off an 85-80 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

After trailing in the first period, B-Meg took control in the final few minutes of the first half to take the lead for good.  The last deadlock of the game was 74-all before B-Meg unleashed an 11-6 finishing kick. James Yap hit an impressive fall away shot that took the fight from the pesky Elasto Painters. Yap and import Marcus Blakely combined for 50 of B-Meg’s 85 points. Peter June Simon added 16 markers.

2012 PBA Governor’s Cup Best Import Awardee Jamelle Cornley led the Painters with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  The Elasto Painters lost rookie Paul Lee to injury in the 4th quarter.  Lee re-injured his shoulder after trying to tap the ball from Simon.  A stretcher was needed to bring him to a nearby hospital.  The extent of the injury has not yet been determined. There is a chance that he will miss some games in the series.

Earlier in the evening, Mark Caguioa was awarded the Best Player of the Conference trophy. He and Cornley were the major individual awardees of the final conference of the 2011-12 season.
