After losing a heartbreaker in their opening game of the Season 75 of the UAAP against the FEU Tamaraws, the UST Growling Tigers have 2 defeated two Season 75 favorites in a row highlighted by great comebacks from large deficits. First, they beat 5-peat seeking Ateneo Blue Eagles last week by rallying from a 15 point half-time deficit to score an awe-inspiring 71-70 win. Yesterday, they cemented their status as one of the teams to watch as they gave the NU Bulldogs a lesson on resiliency as they trailed the whole game and were down 53-63 at one point in the final period before clawing back and winning 77-71.
Jeron Teng conspired with Aljun Mariano, Kevin Ferrer, Melo Afuang and Karim Abdul in a blistering 15-3 run to take the lead at 68-66 from a ten-point deficit. Teng scored 6 points behind two booming treys in that run. Bobby Ray Parks Jr. temporarily stopped the bleeding for Bulldogs by making 3-point shot to bring back the lead to NU 69-68. The Growling Tigers responded with a game-ending 7-0 run for 75-69 lead. After 2 free throws by both teams the score in the end was 75-69 in favor of UST.
