Doha, Qatar – The semifinal matches have been played and the 2012 World 9 Ball Championship is down to its final 2 players. China‘s Lee He Wen defeated former titlist Ralf Souquet, 11-6 to set up a finals duel against Great Britain’s Darren Appleton who won 11-7 against Naoyuki Ohi.  Once again, the tournament will produce a first time winner.

It’s going to be East vs. West in the finals. Lee will have a chance to be the first ever mainland Chinese player to win the World 9-Ball Championship. Appleton hopes to give Britain another champion after 5 years.

Chang Jun Lin wins 2012 World 8 Ball Championship

Fujairah, UAE – Chang Jun Lin beat fellow Taiwanese Fu Chei We, 11-6, to capture the 2012 World 8 Ball Championship. The new 8 Ball World champ received $20,000 for the victory while the runner-up was awarded $15,000. Chang credited so much for his victory as he considers him as his mentor. If the NBA has Linsanity, another “Lin” is now emerging to top the billiard world.

2011 World Pool Masters: Souquet beats Orcollo in the Finals

German Ralf Souquet captured  2011 World Pool Masters title Monday night after beating defending champion Dennis Orcollo. Souquet won $20,000 for the victory while Orcollo settled for $10,000. Sixteen of the world’s best pool players where invited to compete in this tournament sponsored by

In the way to the finals, Souquet eliminated Mika Immonen, Lee Van Corteza, and Darren Appleton. World No.1 Orcollo reached the finals via victories against Tony Drago, Chang Jung Lin, and  Fu Jian Bo.

The successful and well-attended tournament was held at at The Block at SM North EDSA in Quezon City. It was the 19th running of the World Pool Masters tournament and it was held for the first in the Philippines.
