16 year old Miguel Luis Tabuena emerged as one of the youngest Filipino Asian games heroes by capturing the silver medal in the men’s golf competitions.  He closed out the tournament with an even 72 and ended up just behind Korean Whee Meen Kim who won the competition by a whopping 11 shots.  The Koreans swept all the gold medals in golf in the 2010 Asian Games.  Men’s team ended in a disappointing 5th place after contending most of the week.

The Philippines added 3 more bronze medals from taekwondo.  Paul Romero, John Paul Lizardo, and Kirstie Elaine Alora all lost in their semi-final matches ending their gold medal hopes.  With the medals of the 4, PH has now a tally of 2-2-8 (Gold silver BronzE)

caloycomment: It was a marvelous performance by the young parbuster.  I foresee another future Filipino golfing star that will do well in the Asian Tour.  The golfing competition though was a testament to Korea’s reputation as the hotbed of golf stars in Asia.  The Koreans simply overwhelmed the competitions, it was never even close. As for the takewondo jins, it was great to see them earning medals.  Although the Philippine Sports Commission would have wanted to see more.  I think taekwondo is one of the sports we can actually somehow win an Olympic medal. This sport should be actively introduced and developed in the grassroots level.
