The Pilipinas Smart-Gilas upset defending champions Iran in their opening game of the 33rd William Jones Cup. Naturalized player Marcus Douhit neutralized the presence of NBA player Hamed Ehadadi (25 points 9 rebounds) by scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. JV Casio and Marc Barroca made timely shots to complete the 73-59 victory.
